Note (en)
Note
A technique observed in some late Medieval bindings in which it appears that the rounded shape of the joints and spine were obtained by lacing the board on tightly and closing them onto the bookblock. In order to achieve this the inner spine edge of the board was usually shaped to create the joints in the bookblock.
